Tile Topographies

Inspired by the landscapes of ancestral homes, along with architectural forms, textures, and patterns, the works reflect an experimental ceramic tile-making process. Drawing from our shared Mediterranean heritage, Tile Topographies took inspiration from sunny coastlines, olive groves, and mountain ranges, translating these natural forms into tactile, hand-built surfaces.

Through this body of work, we began introducing layered marks and reliefs that give the collection a deeply tactile, three-dimensional quality. We experimented with objects gathered from our families and homes, like tools, textiles, and fragments of everyday life - pressing them into clay to create patterns that carry traces of personal and collective memory. Alongside this, we carved our own stamps from lino sheets and clay, and also created 3D printed stamps.

Each tile becomes a vessel for these imprints, holding stories of place and belonging. Together, they form a larger visual field that speaks to continuity, migration, and shared heritage.
